6 Days, Zanzibar

Welcome to Zanzibar. Whether you land at the airport or come in by marine port, our driver will be there to greet you and transfer you to your accommodation. You can choose a Stone Town hotel to settle into the historical atmosphere, or a beach hotel to start relaxing straight away. Check in, rest, and enjoy your first dinner in paradise.

After breakfast, your guide picks you up around 9:00am to explore old Stone Town. This three to four hour walking tour covers:

• The former slave market and the Anglican church built in 1871
• The old market, still bustling with local life
• Zanzibar Memorial Museum
• House of Wonders (Beit-Al-Ajab), built in 1883
• The old Arab Fort and Palace Museum
• The old Indian dispensary (Cultural Center)
• Maruhubi Palace Ruins
• Livingstone House

After lunch at a local restaurant, at 2:30pm you board a boat to Prison Island:

• Home to Aldabra giant tortoises, some over a hundred years old
• Beautiful beaches with a reef sanctuary just offshore
• Good swimming and snorkeling
• Time to relax on the beach before heading back
• Sunset on the boat ride home

Return to your accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.

A full day dedicated to the well-known Safari Blue experience. After breakfast, you're picked up for the ocean adventure:

• Sail on a traditional dhow through Menai Bay
• Visit several sandbanks out in the Indian Ocean
• Dolphin watching, Menai Bay is a favourite spot of theirs
• Snorkeling in clear water
• Sunbathing at Kwale Sandbank
• A seafood barbecue lunch on Kwale Island: grilled fish, lobster, calamari, chicken, and coconut rice

The tour can be private or shared, depending on what you'd prefer. Return to your accommodation in the evening.

In the morning, around 9:00am, we head out to the spice farms that gave Zanzibar its nickname, the Spice Island:

• See and taste fresh tropical fruit
• Walk through several spice plantations
• Learn how spices are used in cooking, cosmetics, and medicine
• See how the spices are cultivated and processed
• A traditional spiced lunch at the farm

In the afternoon, around 2:30pm, we continue on to Jozani Forest National Park:

• A walking tour through the natural forest
• A chance to see the endangered red colobus monkeys up close
• The mangrove boardwalk
• An introduction to this unique ecosystem

Return to your lodging for dinner and overnight stay.

Today is your well-earned lazy day. If you're staying at a beach hotel, spend your time:

• Relaxing on pristine white-sand beaches
• Swimming in warm, turquoise water
• Taking in the tropical scenery
• Optional water sports, at your own expense
• Sunbathing and reading

If you're staying in Stone Town instead, you can:

• Shop in the historic markets
• Take a leisurely walk through Stone Town
• Visit Forodhani Gardens in the evening
• Watch the sunset, an optional sunset dhow cruise is available
• Try the Forodhani night market's fresh seafood and local delicacies

After six days of exploring and unwinding on Zanzibar, this is your departure day. Following your flight or ferry schedule, we'll pick you up from your accommodation and transfer you to the airport or marine port for your journey home, or on to your next destination. You'll leave with plenty of memories of the Spice Island.
