Itinerary

Day by Day

Day 1

Arrive in Zanzibar

You'll be met on arrival at the airport or harbor by our representative and transferred to Tembo Hotel or similar accommodation in the heart of Stone Town, well placed for exploring the island's cultural capital. The rest of the day is yours to spend at leisure, perhaps a first wander through the nearby streets or simply settling in at the hotel.

Day 2

Stone Town Tour and Spice Tour

The morning starts at 9am with a full Stone Town City Tour, taking in centuries of history in a few compact streets:

Visit the Fruit Market (opened in 1904) to see and buy tropical fruits and spices
Explore the Cathedral and former Slave Market sites
Tour the Sultan's Palace and Tip Tip's House
Discover the Old Arabic Fort and Freddie Mercury House
Stroll through Forodhani Park
Admire the famous carved Zanzibar doors in narrow streets

At noon we head to the Spice Tour, a sensory afternoon through the plantations that gave the island its name:

See and taste tropical fruits and spices
Visit various spice plantations
Touch, smell, and guess different spice plants
Learn about medicinal and cosmetic uses of spices
Enjoy a delicious spice-themed lunch

Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3

Safari Blue

Departing from Fumba at 9am, Safari Blue is a full day sailing, snorkeling, and sunbathing aboard a traditional dhow:

Explore Menai Bay Conservation Area
Spot dolphins in their natural habitat
Stop at Kwale Sandbank for swimming and sunbathing
Snorkel among vibrant coral reefs
Visit Kwale Island for a seafood barbecue lunch
Feast on grilled fish, lobster, calamari, chicken, and coconut rice

Return to your hotel in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4

Prison Island and Jozani Forest

A 9am boat trip takes you to Prison Island (Changuu Island):

Meet the famous Aldabra giant tortoises, some over 100 years old
Learn about the island's history as a prison and quarantine station
Enjoy swimming and snorkeling in crystal-clear waters
Relax on the pristine beach

After lunch, at 12:30pm we drive to Jozani Forest National Park:

Guided tour through the natural forest
Encounter the endangered Red Colobus monkeys
Walk through the mangrove forest boardwalk
Discover the unique ecosystem and marine life beneath the mangroves

Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5

Departure

After breakfast and checking out, enjoy your final moments in Zanzibar. Depending on your departure time, there may be time for last-minute shopping or a final walk through Stone Town. Our driver will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to the airport or marine port for your departure.
